First Summer Weekend

So, I've been out of school a total of two days... two very rainy days at that! I got out on Friday and right now it's 2:00AM Monday morning. Clearly, I'm in full summer mode already! It's my natural body clock to stay up late when I don't have to get up for work and I didn't waste any time moving towards that.

I'm planning on doing some "project" around here each day and this weekend it was rolling up the rugs, cleaning and changing curtains. So, there I was standing on a chair screwing in drapery rod hardware at midnight! Lightweight white and yellow curtains in the bay window lend the summer air to the house.

I'm hoping that the weather breaks tomorrow as I need to get out in the yard... I'm sure that my garden is over-run with weeds and I need to stake my tomato plants. Tomorrow's project, besides the garden is tackling that bathroom closet and tossing any old crap that's cluttering up the place.

I did my resistance workout this morning so tomorrow is cardio day. Hopefully, my knee begins to feel better soon so that I can start adding some running in with my walk.

I also want to head in to school to drop off my vacation feeders and put one in my fish tank so that they're fed regularly.

Time to hit the hay although I'm still wide awake so I'll likely read a bit before falling asleep.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE SUMMER VACATION!!?

Schools Out!

Ahhhh..... Summer vacation! Yesterday was the last day of school and I'm breathing a huge sigh. It's been quite a year, and in retrospect, a year of growth for me. It went from being one of the worst years of my teaching career to one of the best. There were many, many challenges faced and overcome and many more things that still need to be done. (When I feel philosophical, I'll get into it...)

Today is a rainy, muggy Saturday and I slept in. Everyone is out and I'm just checking email and such then will clean the house. I love being able to stay on top of things during the summer. It's hard to leave in the morning with a clean house and come home after school to a mess... grrrrr! It's nice to be right there to "remind" the kids to pick up after themselves throughout the day.

I really don't have many weeks to just hang around because I'm doing a 7 day training in July with the Dept. of Ed. then Patriots Training Camp will start at the end of July and run through August until my vacation to NH. Right after that, I'll be heading back to school. At some point in August, I'll need to get back to school to set up my room. Of course, podcasting, training camp reports and website updates will take up lots of time.

I've got a few goals for this summer:

Yardwork
Paint
Garage/spare room
Read as much as I want/can!!
Stick with a fitness routine/lose 10 pounds
Kick off Muse with Me
Finish Flickr transfer
www.patriotworld.com migrate

So, that's a brief check-in for today... summer is my favorite time of the year and I'll post more frequently in the weeks to come.
